CITY COUNCIL 1 �� I�� July 16, 2012 <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THREE NEW CLASSIFICATION <br />SPECIFICATIONS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER, <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS <br />COORDINATOR, AND ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGER <br />AND ONE REVISED CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION OF <br />RECREATION COORDINATOR <br />INITIATED BY: ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT <br />(Susan Schumacher, Human Resources Supe <br />(LuNita Bock, Human Resources Manager) <br />(Vivian Love, Director of Administrative Se is <br />STATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: <br />The City Council will consider approval of the new classification specifications of Special <br />Events Manager, Economic Development and Cultural Affairs Coordinator, Assistant to <br />the City Manager, and the revised classification specification of Recreation Coordinator. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />1. Approve the new classification specification of Special Events Manager. <br />2. Authorize salary placement for the Special Events Manager classification at <br />Grade 2131. <br />3. Approve the new classification specification of Economic Development and <br />Cultural Affairs Coordinator. <br />4. Authorize salary placement for the Economic Development and Cultural Affairs <br />Coordinator at Grade 5260. <br />5. Approve the new classification specification of Assistant to the City Manager. <br />6. Authorize salary placement for the Assistant to the City Manager at Grade 5290. <br />7. Approve the revised classification specification of Recreation Coordinator. <br />BACKGROUND ANALYSIS: <br />Special Events Manager <br />In 2009 the City Council authorized an increase in the number of special events a <br />commercial business could conduct annually. As anticipated, this resulted in an <br />increased number of special event permits. As well as the commercial related events, <br />there has been a significant increase in City sponsored, co- sponsored and endorsed or <br />permitted events and internal events which are generated by the City's dedication to <br />provide services and programs to our constituents. <br />AGENDA ITEM 2 .
